Richard

Poor Richard lost his way after the 4th of July weekend. But just after a week at the shelter, he began to blossom….

Turns out, Richard is a bit of a ladies man. All the shelter girls love him, and he loves all of them in return. Big, small, rough, gentle, playful, lazy…doesn’t matter to Richard. He rolls right along with the flow. Guess you can say he knows how to read his audience. He’s even been great on pack walks with friendly male dogs, and seems uninterested in cats so we’re sure he’d be fine in any household with proper introductions.

He also loves water! With the recent heat wave, the pools have been out at the shelter and Richard knows that’s the best spot to cool off. He’s even convinced volunteers to take him to the splash pad for a quick cool down during walks. Shhhh, don’t tell on us!
Richard is a very smart boy, and will make a loyal companion for anyone that shows him he’s loved. He’ll even protect you from scary bicycles. You know you can’t trust those things!

He’s approximately 5 years old, so like any big boy he knows not to potty in the house, chew your shoes, or do any of those annoying puppy things. Yet, he’s still young at heart and very playful! At only 30 lbs. he’s the perfect size for any home too!

If you’d like to meet Richard, the shelter visiting hours are 10am to 2pm, seven days a week. The shelter is located at 701 E. 4th St, or give them a call at 512-352-5483 for more information!
